2nd CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Practitioner Researchers from different countries, universities and other educational settings have reacted positively to our first call for papers.
Keynote speeches will be addressed to the main conference by (a) Alistair Ross, Professor of Education, Director of the Institute for Policy Studies in Education at the London Metropolitan University and Coordinator of the Erasmus Thematic Network Children's Identity and Citizenship in Europe (CiCe), (b) Kerry Freedman, Professor of Art Education at Northern Illinois University,(c) Kostas Chrisogonos, Professor of Law, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Short papers are welcomed for proposals at parallel session’s symposia. The themes for the symposia are the following:

1. The Notion of Citizenship and Citizenship Education

2. Artistic Creation and Citizen’s Identity

3. Gender Equality in Multicultural Societies

4. National and European Identity and Cosmopolitanism

5. Human Rights, Citizenship and Multiculturalism

6. Education for Peace

7. Dialogue between Religions and Civilizations

Please note that the participant presents the highlights of the inquiry in no more than 10-15minutes, which is followed by a 10 minutes discussion.

All those interested in submitting a proposal must prepare an abstract in English (approx. 150 words). Abstracts must be sent to POLI.Scitizenshipassociation@gmail.com by June 29th 2007.

Full papers must be sent to the e-mail above by October 1st 2007 and must not exceed the limit of 5000 words. These will be included into the conference proceedings.

The registration fee is set at €50. Payment should be made by credit card only. Please note that the fee of €50 does not include accommodation and subsistence expenses. Applicants must make their own arrangements for accommodation. A list of hotels is available on the conference website. http://www.ucy.ac.cy/~currinst

You will be notified of acceptance/non acceptance by 30th July 2007.
