venho por este meio solicitar a divulgação do seguinte anúncio de contratação de doutorados aberto até 30 de Agosto de 2007 na Unidade de Investigação Educação e Desenvolvimento (UIED www.dcsa.fct.unl.pt/uied ) ao abrigo do Programa Compromisso com a Ciência 2007 ( www.fct.mctes.pt/contratacao/edital/ ).




ASSISTANT RESEARCHER in Education
Applications are invited for an ASSISTANT RESEARCHER in Education. The researcher must be fluent in spoken and written Portuguese and English. Applicants must have a doctorate in education and/or social sciences. Research experience on higher education, adult learning and European educational policies is required. The Bologne process is expected to impact on higher education in Europe. The UIED sub-program "Research on higher education" has produced a consistent string of results on this area, that springs from master and doctoral dissertations, and national and international projects. Results have focus on life-long learning, trajectories of education from former university students, the organization of models for educational strategies for young people and adults, and experiences on formal accounting of professional experience as a learning process. The relevance of this topic, together with the need for multidisciplinary approaches, justifies the opening of this position, especially due to the lack of comparative expertise elsewhere. The following duties are expected: (a) Cooperate with research activities carried out by the members of the specific program, namely theoretical research, conducting field work, writing analyses and conclusions. (b) Communicate research activities by cooperating in writing reports, research proposals, articles, chapters of books, or presenting papers. (c) Occasionally conduct seminars or short courses at the masters or doctoral level on their field of expertise.

ASSISTANT RESEARCHER in Mathematics Education
Applications are invited for an ASSISTANT RESEARCHER in Mathematics Education. The researcher must be fluent in spoken and written Portuguese and English and have a background on the understanding of social phenomena, as they relate to mathematics teaching and learning that will reinforce current expertise in mathematics learning, broadening the theoretical basis and incorporating knowledge from other grade levels is necessary, for successful intervention in classrooms. More specifically, the following duties are expected: (a) Cooperate with research activities carried out by the members of the specific program, namely theoretical research, conducting field work, writing analyses and conclusions. (b) Communicate research activities by cooperating in writing reports, research proposals, articles, chapters of books, or presenting papers. (c) Occasionally conduct seminars or short courses at the masters or doctoral level on their field of expertise or as part of their research activities. Applicants must have a doctorate in mathematics education. Research experience in the study educational phenomena under a historical, social or anthropological framework is required.

ASSISTANT RESEARCHER in Science, Mathematics
and Computers in Education
Applications are invited for an ASSISTANT RESEARCHER in Science, Mathematics and Computers in Education. The researcher must be fluent in spoken and written English. Applicants must have a doctorate in any area of the physical sciences or mathematics, or in sciences or mathematics education. They must also have a deep knowledge of the use of scientific software, namely Computer Algebra Systems, Modelling Systems, Dynamic Geometry, etc. Applicants must also have a working knowledge of tools for electronic editing of scientific documents as well as knowledge about literature on the educational use of computerised environments in science and mathematics. The development of research at the program "Education and technologies" is deemed necessary given the importance of educational methodologies making use of computational approaches. UIED has already a tradition on this area, for its researchers have developed key software components for the educational enterprise and been at the forefront of innovative methodologies. The following duties are expected: (a) Cooperate with research activities carried out by the members of the specific program or sub-program, namely theoretical research, conducting field work, writing analyses and conclusions. (b) Communicate research activities by cooperating in writing reports, research proposals, articles, chapters of books, or presenting papers. (c) Occasionally conduct seminars or short courses at the masters or doctoral level on their field of expertise or as part of their research activities. (d) Participate, and eventually conduct, seminars on learning science and mathematics with computational modelling. (e) Cooperate with on-going financed European projects on learning and teaching with computational modelling tools. (f) Cooperate in the analysis of curricular innovations in Portugal and abroad. (g) Cooperate in the development and evaluation of educational materials produced in Portugal and abroad. (h) Cooperate in the development of the scientific software Modellus. (i) Cooperate in writing research proposals.
